1. Information We Collect

Tale Hero is designed for parents and guardians. We collect only the information needed to create, save, deliver, and improve personalized stories:

  • Story profile: A child's first name or nickname, age, preferred language, story interests, comfort details, and optional sidekick or world choices entered by an adult.
  • Photos (optional): A parent-selected photo may be stored with the story profile and processed to keep the child's appearance consistent in generated illustrations.
  • Stories: Prompts, generated story text, story titles, and technical generation records. Generated illustrations and narration are downloaded to the device for playback and offline access.
  • App and purchase data: An installation identifier, app version, platform, subscription status, product selected, and purchase or restore outcome. Apple processes payment details; Tale Hero does not receive a full card number.
  • Product events: Limited events such as onboarding completion, generation success or failure, paywall views, and story completion. Identifiers used for this analytics stream are hashed before storage, and story prompts, names, photos, audio, and images are not included in analytics event properties.

2. How We Use Information

We use this information to generate and personalize stories, provide narration and illustrations, enforce free-preview and subscription allowances, restore purchases, troubleshoot failures, protect the service from misuse, and understand whether the parent-facing product flow works.

3. Service Providers

Information is shared only as needed with providers that help operate Tale Hero:

  • Google Cloud Vertex AI / Gemini: Generates story text, illustrations, and narration. A story prompt and, when selected, the optional reference photo are sent for generation.
  • OpenAI: Checks parent-entered story ideas for unsafe content before generation.
  • RevenueCat and Apple: Manage subscriptions, entitlements, purchase validation, and restoration.
  • Vercel and Neon: Host the API and database used for profiles, story history, generation jobs, usage limits, and limited product analytics.

4. Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Story media is stored on the device until the story is deleted or the App is removed. Profile data, optional photos, generated story text, usage records, and generation records may also be retained on our service while needed to provide the App, prevent abuse, resolve support issues, and meet legal obligations. Provider-side processing is also subject to the provider's security and retention controls.

You can delete individual downloaded stories in the App. You can also permanently delete the child profile, optional photo, stories, generation records, and associated product analytics from Edit Story World > Data & Privacy. If you cannot access the App, email us from the parent or guardian at the address below. We may retain limited transaction or security records when required by law or necessary to prevent fraud.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is intended to be set up and used by a parent or guardian, not independently by a child. Please use a first name or nickname and avoid entering unnecessary personal information. We do not ask a child for an email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, or advertising identifier. Optional photos and child profile details are used to provide the story service and are not made public or used for targeted advertising.

6. Security and International Processing

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted network transport and restricted service access. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process information in countries other than the user's country, subject to their applicable safeguards and data-processing terms.

7. Your Choices

Providing a photo is optional. You may skip detailed personalization, delete stories or all profile data in the App, manage subscriptions through Apple, or contact us to request access to data associated with the installation. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for cross-app targeted advertising.
